It is a regular practice for many of us to give antibiotics for dementia patients having fever. This is because this is a general idea in many of us that it may combat and lower this fever. But as per the latest medical researches performed by doctors and Alzheimer treatment experts it has been concluded that antibiotics should not be used. Both moderate and overuse of antibiotics can have disastrous results. This is because use of antibiotics can add fuel to the already existing problem of drug-resistant superbugs and may lead to undesired consequences.
It is obvious that the matter is quiet objectionable for the masses. In a conference held on the similar issue the major question was that; is it good enough to leave patients dying of Alzheimer in their bitter condition in absence of suitable medical treatments? However there was no possible reply for this question. But contrary to these researchers were successful to demonstrate that their study on Alzheimer patients revealed that 42% of them died within one or two weeks on treatment with antibiotics.
The senior scientist of Hebrew Senior Life Institute for Aging Research situated in Boston, Dr. Susan Mitchell conducted some studies on advanced dementia and remarked it as the life-threatening disease. As per Dr. Mitchell there is almost no such drugs invented to cure it totally and it’s similar to a patient having cancer in last stage. There is practically no distinction in between the two. Patients are found to die with high fever or pneumonia in the later stages of dementia but in fact the principal reason is that their brain cells are unable to operate. In many cases their brain cells get completely damaged and for this reason they are incapable of understanding simple things, recognizing their closed ones etc.
