Not tit for tat, but now fat for fat, at least the latest obesity theory seems to suggest so. Just like bad or good cholesterols, bad and good kinds of fats also exist and according to some studies the good kinds of fats can be very effective in shedding pound by affecting metabolism.
Scientists believe that these good fats help body to burn calories by generating heat in the body. These very fats also prove very helpful to keep infants warm, but in their adulthood they go out mostly or become inactive.
According to three new studies fat can prove effective to burn a considerable amount of energy.
Dr. Francesco Celi, the lead author of one of these studies, says: “It can be used as a target by using a pill that can intensify the fat.
Dr. Louis Aronne, who is a weight control expert at Weill Cornell Medical Centre, New York, says: “Any such treatment for obesity that developed around the fat may prove also an effective way to treat diabetes too.”
The studies have been published in New England Journal of Medicine.
The fat that is reckoned good for health has a brownish texture, while the so-called bad fat is yellow or white in texture. Brownish or good fat usually stores under collarbone and the neck areas while white or yellowish fat seems to concentrate around the waistline.
In their studies, the researchers documented the activity and the presence of the brown fat and they used high-tech imaging how much amount of calories and sugar the brown fat could burn.
