Anti-Rubella and Anti –Measles vaccination campaign in Lebanon:
To end malicious diseases, like measles and rubella among the children, Lebanon started a countrywide anti –rubella and anti-measles vaccination campaign. As committed to the UNICEF and World Health organization (WHO) more than 900,000 have been targeted to vaccinate to wipe out the diseases from the country by the end of 2010.
Participation of different ministries and civil society Organizations:
The country’s Ministry of Public Health propounded the campaign in its attempts to prevent the occurrence of disease in most part of the country. Several ministries particularly education ministry and civil society organizations will also take part in the campaign.
Two Phases of Campaign:
The campaign has been planned to launch into two phases for the children aged between nine months to 14 years. The first phase will last until 12 April from today and children in educational institutions and nurseries will be focused. The second phase will last from 29th April to 3rd of May; and target the children that wouldn’t be vaccinated in the first phase.
Numbers of teams participated in the campaign:
350 teams, in more than 3000 private and public school, will vaccinate the children and there must be at least one medical doctor or one registered nurse with every team.
Mr.Khalid Qabbani and Dr.Mohammad Jawad Khalifa’ s views regarding campaign:
According to Mr.Khalid Qabbani; Minister of secondary and higher education, Lebanese Children are his first and foremost concern as they are the architectures of Lebanese’s future and it is useless to dream of a healthy and sound society without them .The minister of Public Health Dr.Mohammad Jawad Khalifa also addresses on that event.
