Women health is an important issue that is still being neglected in this modern era. A woman is responsible for health and well being of whole family, but less attention is allocated to her own well being. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancers prevalent among women. A new research study has been presented at the American College of Sports Medicine’s 56th Annual Meeting in Seattle that states that women above the age of 30 can decrease the risk of acquiring breast cancer if they work out regularly.
A total of 4296 women were included in the survey, where their workout and physical activity routines were observed during 4 key stages of life; 10 to 15 years old; 15 to 30 years old; 30 to 50 years old; and 50 years old and above.
The first two groups did not show any change in breast cancer risk factor in accordance with exercise routines. Whereas, the third group showed significant decrease in the risk factor if they pursued a lively and active lifestyle with proper work out routine.
Study’s lead researcher, Lisa Sprod said, “Regular exercise appears to have protective effects for this age group of women. Meeting physical activity recommendations can act like a prescription for prevention when it comes to breast cancer.” According to the research, regular exercise routine has positive effects on hormone levels, immunity system and functions, body weight and weight gain with age. Therefore, a regular workout routine must be followed in order to keep defending against diseases and sickness.
